Rhinoplasty, commonly known as nose surgery, is a procedure sought both for functional and aesthetic reasons, providing individuals with a healthier and more appealing nasal structure. Functional issues in the nose, whether congenital or acquired, can significantly impact a person's quality of life by causing breathing problems and sleep disturbances. These issues, often unnoticed, can have serious negative effects on daily life. Therefore, addressing these functional problems through rhinoplasty is recommended to improve overall quality of life, enhance sleep quality, and positively affect daily living. At our Rhinoplasty Clinic in İzmir, our expert team, led by Dr. Yahya Demirdelen, is dedicated to helping you take a step towards a healthier life.
In addition to functional issues, rhinoplasty is also performed for aesthetic concerns. These procedures, addressing noses that are either naturally undesired in shape or altered due to external factors, are successfully carried out at our clinic. The nose plays a crucial role in facial aesthetics due to its central position and ability to significantly alter a person's overall expression. Rhinoplasty procedures that harmonize the nose with other facial features can create a noticeable improvement, helping individuals achieve their desired appearance. Most importantly, a well-performed rhinoplasty can lead to a more confident and socially active self, as nasal deformities can sometimes lead to psychological issues. Under the guidance of Dr. Yahya Demirdelen and our expert team, we provide the healthiest aesthetic solutions for your nose at our Rhinoplasty Clinic in İzmir.
Post-Rhinoplasty Care and Maintenance
Whether rhinoplasty is performed for functional or aesthetic reasons, the process does not conclude with the surgery itself. In some cases, rhinoplasty may address both concerns simultaneously. Proper post-operative care is essential to support the success of the surgery and to ensure a smooth recovery. Therefore, post-rhinoplasty care should be taken seriously.
Immediate Post-Operative Period
The days immediately following rhinoplasty are critical. The nose is highly sensitive during this period, and it is crucial to protect the surgical area. Your care team will provide detailed instructions on how to care for your nose in the initial days after surgery, and following these guidelines is essential for preserving your health.
One of the first steps in post-operative care is ensuring proper nasal hygiene. You should clean your nose 5-6 times a day as instructed and apply antibiotic ointment. Take care not to wet the outside of your nose during cleaning, as this will reduce crusting and provide relief.
It is also important to take the medications prescribed by your doctor and avoid taking any other medications unless approved by your doctor. Smoking is another critical issue; if you smoke and plan to undergo rhinoplasty, it is essential to refrain from smoking for at least two weeks before and after the surgery.
During the first week, it is recommended to sleep with your head elevated and to use cold compresses. Avoid massaging the nose, and protect it from external factors. While you may shower, the nose should not be washed, and if a splint is applied, it should be kept dry. Avoid air travel and intense physical activities for a few weeks after the surgery.
Long-Term Post-Operative Care
Following rhinoplasty, it is advisable to avoid wearing glasses that rest on the nose for at least a month, as this could negatively affect the outcome of the surgery. Additionally, it is recommended to protect the nose from sun exposure for six months.
