What is Tympanoplasty?

Due to the inflammation in the ear, some deformations may occur in the eardrum. The operation performed to correct these deformations is called tympanoplasty. In tympanoplasty, help is taken from the tissues in the ear to repair the eardrum. With this operation, which is performed under general anesthesia and completed in approximately 1-3 hours, serious problems such as hearing loss are prevented. If an infection or similar problem does not occur after tympanoplasty, the eardrum heals in about a month. After the surgery, severe coughing and straining should be avoided, and the head should be rested in the first few weeks following the surgery.
